Each part included in any of the K8RA keys is carefully made to exacting specifications.  Critical dimensions are achieved using a combo lathe/mill/drill capable of machining to one-thousandth of an inch.  Careful attention has been given to make jigs that insure each part can be duplicated to exact dimensions.  This insures that everything fits when the key is assembled.

Bearings set into the base of a K8RA key
Each base is drilled to precise dimensions so everything aligns correctly when assembled
It would be impossible to make these keys without the Smithy Lathe/Mill/Drill.  It provides the capability to machine with an accuracy of .001 inch.  It cuts brass like butter.
Note the bearings on each end of the pivot rods that support the dot-dash arms.  These bearings insure the smoothest pivot possible.
Disassembled parts of a P4 paddle.  Each part must be made to exacting standards or things will not align when assembled.  Quality control is essential.
